Living Outside the World Around Us
The other night I was working. One of my coworkers was finishing up and correcting her reports in order to correct what she had done. She then began to worry and stress that her drawer was going to be off. She was stressing so much that I could feel her stress. God showed me in that moment that I didn’t need to join in her stressing and I was able to be peaceful in God in a stressful environment.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Mathew 11:28 (ESV)
No matter what circumstance we are in, we have the option and opportunity to keep our focus and hearts aligned with God. Just because others are acting in such a way it does not mean we need to join in with them. We are able to be in communion with God no matter where we are or what we are doing. As children of God even though we are living in the world we need not be of the world. God has called us to be in His presence now in Earth and through eternity in heaven.
“I (Jesus) have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” John 17:14(ESV)
Jesus did not come to be apart of the world but to bring people out of the fleshy ways of the world. Are you going to choose God and join Him where He is? He has called you to live a life here on Earth focused and centered in Him with no worry of the world around you. Who are you going to chose? The people and stresses around you or God who’s dwelling place is not of the world?
“If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” John 15:19 (ESV)
